The Forestry Department has recommended the declaration of some 13 areas as forest reserves, as the Agency moves to provide greater protection for forest areas across the island.
The Agency published a notice on August 22, notifying the public of its intention and also inviting them to submit their comments about the proposed sites by November 19, 2014.

The state-owned areas proposed for declaration are Cacoon Castle, Amity Mountain, Horseguard, Muirhead, Newfound, Oxford, Bowden Pen, Bogue 2, Burnt Ground, Mount Dawson, Blue Mountain 2 and Hazelymph.
The privately owned Tryall Estate has also been recommended for declaration.
