Forestry Department Opens New Training Facility |
Kingston, July 19, 2010:
The Agency, which was designated an Executive Agency on May 1 this year, is embarking on a new operation style that is performance based to provide efficient and effective service by well trained customer-focused staff. Forestry Department and JAMALCo have had a long partnership stemming from the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between both organisations in 2002. Although the focus of the MOU is primarily on the rehabilitation of mined out bauxite lands, when Forestry Department was going to construct the building, JAMALCo through the ALCOA Foundation contributed to the effort. Donovan Stanberry, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, praised the Alcoa Foundation for their investment in the project and encouraged, more companies and Jamaican citizens to become partners in forestry.
