Forestry Department observes World Environment Day |
Scores of persons were exposed to the Forestry Department and its work on Friday, June 4, 2010 when the agency participated in an expo marking World Environment Day. The Expo organised and staged by the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) was held at Devon House in St. Andrew. Students and other persons from the general public visited the Forestry Department’s booth, where they received posters, brochures, and material about the agency and its programmes. Visitors were also able to purchase a number of seedlings that were also on sale at the expo. The Department also participated in tree planting activities staged by National Commercial Bank (NCB) branches at various primary schools across the island. The agency, which provided the seedlings, was involved in one of about 20 tree planting exercises, which focused on planting trees symbolising peace, prosperity, and hope. The bank also sought to promote environmental awareness through the day’s activities. Click on link below to view more:- NB: Preferably viewed in MS Internet Explorer 7 or later and Google Chrome.
